WOW- What an Uber Review? Real reviews VERSUS the Uber Decepticons upping the hype?
In this day of age, we depend on reviews about a business establishment and our information comes from the internet such as Yelp,I Tunes and Blog reviews, and even at times from our social media circles. However it is critical to see if such reviews are REAL people with REAL experiences or are posted by marketing specialists hired by the business. Do not be fooled by these Decepticons, who are are flooding the internet with beautifully, creatively written but yet artificial reviews.
Recently, I found a job posting on Mechanical Turk's website posted by popular upstart car service known as Uber. Uber's job posted descriptions, write press releases, PR articles online, and write reviews ( 5 star write reviews to counter the real bad review). Yes, write beautiful press releases and fake reviews about how great service Uber is providing and how it is the next Coca Cola. Lets examine a fake review found on Yelp and a real review.
Fake Review written by Michael P. of Flushing on June 5th2013 on Yelp to counter bad review written by real review on 6/5/13. * posted 5 stars out of 5 stars*
- Uber is an absolute 5 star experience. You push a button and you instantly see where your driver is on a map in relation to you, plus their name, car type and the ability to call them. It's so sweet.
100% of the drivers I've had were above and beyond courteous. One even had water in his cab for passengers, another provided chocolate. Drivers are super friendly and professional and from my experience can carry great conversations if you choose to.
The rates, especially if you pick UberX, is very close to your typical cab far. If you know a private car rate to your destination is cheaper than a metered cab, don't use Uber, as this will be much more than you're used to paying.
All in all, great service. I love that drivers know they're going to be rated so they go above and beyond, Keep up the good work and I'll keep using the app!
- am currently working with UBER as a driver.
In theory the concept is great, but once it's place on practice the situation is completely different.
1rst of all, UBER's app software is plague with issues.
2nd it provides unreal ETA's to customers as UBER doesn't take in consideration traffic conditions, traffic patterns impossed by the city such as no left turns or right turns from such street at a given time of the day.
3rd Providing wrong addresses to drivers forcing them to re-route in order to find the riders.
I once got a pick up request that was scheduled @ 7th ave. & 52nd street. After few minutes waiting the customer calls asking me where i was & told him Ive been waiting for the last 5 or 6 minutes for him.
Then he ask me where i am exactly waiting for him,i told 7th ave. and 52nd st he replay saying it can't be as he were waiting for me on west end st. Then had to drive all the way from 7th ave to the west end highway to pick up the customer.
Customers love to have the doors open ? great !! just wait for the driver to do so,don't hail into the vehicle and then complaint the driver didn't open the door for you.
I can't speak for other drivers, but personally speaking of i always prepare my self by assuming the customer is carrying some luggage or big items that wants to be transported in the vehicle.
The fake review writes about 100% of drivers being professional and courteous, and Uber's rating system pressures drivers to go above and beyond for great service. In addition, in car amenities such as having bottle water and chocolate in car is an outright lie. Uber's having zero percent margin for error (100% professional drivers), and in car amenities seems more like science fiction over reality, I will explain how both claims are fiction.
First, Uber experienced the owner operators strike in San Francisco on St. Patrick's Day (March 2013), for being deactivated on the basis of low ratings. If the theory about drivers being worried about ratings and forced to go above and beyond for service were to be true, then these drivers would have never have been deactived in the first place. Then the writer claims 100% professional drivers? Well, when one reads the real reviews posted by others in same month and year, one can quickly realize that this 100% claim in much more nonsense. Now lets focus on in car amenities such as bottled water and chocolate. Who is paying for these incremental costs without the appropriate incremental revenue?. How is it possible for the Uber owner operator's be able to provide additional in car amenities (water and chocolate) at $15-$20 fares when Uber takes over 35% of fare?
Example, a $15.00 ride minus 35% (the 25% actual commission deduction *not the claimed 20%, 8.875% Tax and 2% black car workers compensation fund). The net proceeds an owner operator gets equal sto $9.75, and driver still has to pay for his operating and vehicles expenses. Is it really possible to fork out an additional $1.00-$2.00 expenses on such fares?
Uber does not own, operate, inspect and or even provide such claimed supplies to it's loose network of independent owner operators. Once again. My personal experience using Uber differed from the decepticon reviews.
I downloaded the Uber customer app and ordered a car service on demand and my exeriences were as follows. On my first attempt, I got an inexperienced Turkish owner operator (driver) from Uber who was not dressed as appropriately, medicore car, and was confused at drop off point. This driver had an untucked white dress shirt. The vehicle bumper was scraped and 2 hup caps were missing, and the two hubcaps were chrome hubcaps over alloy wheels. The driver was dropping me off in a wrong location. This driver kept arguing with me that I was on 51st Street and Tenth Avenue when in fact we were on 49th Street. In the second attempt, I ordered an SUV and got a kind dude from the Caribbeans however dressed in black jeans over a white shirt, having dreads longer than Bob Marley with exposed tattoos and blasting music is not what I consider professional first class car service. In the third attempt, I was picked up at 14th Street and Bowery, the by an inexperienced courteous owner operator who I had to guide with hand and arm signals to get to Canal Street and Broadway, New York, NY. In addition, I have tested the Uber's driver app, and found the issues addressed in review cited above to be extremely accurate. I would like to add that during rain and thunderstorms, the App will not load properly and have network errors.
Not only do the fake reviews acts as a counter the true negative re,views, but they also serve as upping the hype. I found that some fake reviews are suggesting a $20 promo code and are repeatedly mentioning it all over and over with different names. These fake reviews with promo codes tend to say the same thing over and over. It is critical to be aware of such deceptive reviews which mislead the public.
These fake reviews are not verifiable references, and they all say the same thing within review and give Uber 5 stars. It is not possible to have uniformity in reviews, especially when all are suggesting a promo code within the review. In addition, the 100% perfection rate with a zero percent margin for error even seems impossible for Ritz Carlton, St. Regis, Four Seasons, Peter Lugars Steakhouse and Virgin Airways. How does Uber manage to have 100% perfectly professional chauffeur service at slightly higher than taxi prices? Is it possible in getting a private jet service at 20% higher than a Jet Blue economy service?
Please be wary of these online marketing specialists who are not only misleading public, but just need your credit card and gain a quick 35% mark up for services. That is correct, make 35% markup and not earning it. It is critical to be aware of online decepticons who are misleading readers by UPPING the HYPE
