The so-called popular upstart car service Uber has been leaving executive chartered helicopter clients stranded out in the Hampton Long Island New York. Yet,Uber has been aggressively marketing the UberChopper package, where a client is promised door to door service from start to end. The UberChopper program promises to pickup clients from New York City in an SUV, driving them over to the NYC West side Heliport to board a chopper and upon landing on the East End of Long Island (Hampton), an SUV waiting to pickup client to drop anywhere out on the Hampton s. However, they have failed to have a car waiting out on East End, leaving clients stranded and left with calling other limousine companies or their relatives to the rescue.

This discovery was announced by the helicopter company when they called us asking us for a chauffeur driven vehicle at the heliport as soon as possible. When we asked them about the ETA of helicopter to landing, in order for us to be on time at pickup location, we were informed that clients are already at the heliport and the SUV from Uber failed to show up. These occurrence of these incidences have risen every day. Why is Uber failing in fulfilling the UberChopper promise?

Here are a few reasons as to why Uber has failed at the UberChopper. Uber does not own and operate the vehicles, Uber taxi style dispatching cannot allow an Independent contractor to accept an advanced reservation. In addition, these Uber independent contractors are not experienced locals of the Hampton Area. Lets examine each factor in detail.

Uber does not own, operate the vehicles, and hire screened chauffeurs on an hourly based shift schedule. Traditionally, most limousine companies hire chauffeurs who work either on a day or a night schedule. The limousine companies preassign the reservation trips within these schedules. This system pretty much assures the client that their reservation has been scheduled with a chauffeur and a vehicle. Uber works with a loose network of independent contractors referring trips and deducting 35% of gross fare. However, this system really works in favor of the independent contractor who dictate their own work schedule. These independent contractors are only taking Uber work, when they do not have any work. This means that if the Uber independent contractors are unavailable or unwilling to work at 1600 hrs, a client landing at 16:00hours should not be surprised to be stranded out on the East End heliports. The UberChopper program is nothing more than a false promise. The purpose of taking a helicopter is to save time, and being stranded for30-45 minutes or more at heliports defeats the very purpose of a helicopter ride and effective time management. This is why a limousine company which owns equipment and hires scheduled employees will have greater command on vehicle standards, employee performance, work schedule and is better qualified for timely pickups. The next question is that can Uber assign jobs in advance like traditional livery-limousine companies?
(CSL Transportation arrives prior to aircraft landing)

Uber cannot enforce a work schedule because it does not have a reservation system and does not have an experienced human dispatcher who reviews trips diligently and assigns trips sensibly. Uber works like a live taxi dispatching system except on an inexperienced electronic basis. The Taxi dispatching is really based on in taking as many calls, and dispatching the closest vacant taxicab for the call(s), This type of dispatch system does not prioritize any advanced reservation over a live call. This type of dispatching does not guarantee timely pickup because the taxicab can accept a street hail en route and simply cancel the job or get to pickup later. In some cases, if street hail is busier, these independent contractor are not obligated to accept the trip to begin with. Do not be surprised when Uber drivers cancel a call, because this is occurring behind the scenes. This best explains why sometimes a ten minute wait can easily become 2 hour wait. does Lets find out, who are these Ubers in Hampton Long Island NY.

Uber drivers on Hampton are not locals of the Hampton or Long island. These so called partners are insured and licensed to operate in New York City-not Point-to-Point on Nassau or Suffolk Counties. These independent contractors are the same contractors who work with Executive Charge Inc of Brooklyn, New York. Take a closer notice of their license plates as licensed by The New York City Taxi and limousine Commission embossed "T & LC". These livery cars are not licensed by the local towns of Hampton to operate for hire. These SUV Independent order operators drive out from New York City to Hampton s upon their own schedules. Considering all of these facts, what does this article suggest?

Anyone considering in taking a helicopter flight from New York City to the Hampton s, should cut out the unreliable middleman (UBER) contact Liberty Helicopters or Helicopter Flight Services directly, and then prearrange ground transportation with someone who is trustworthy and reliable. When timing is critical, there is no room for errors or being stranded at the heliports.
