First lets examine what is a reservation. Reservation is placing something on hold for future use. Restaurants, airlines, book stores, theatres, car services and many industries offer their customers the ability to reserve product and service in order to ensure delivery at given time.
Business travelers have to conduct business related matters, which can be between airport to hotel and or even meetings. Successful business travelers always have managed their time effectively, and this is why making reservations is important. In many cases, business travelers end their meeting at a given time, and need to be in a car at a given time to be heading to another meetng, airport or even home at a required given time. The required given time is basically a reservation. This is why reservations are very important for business professionals and anyone concerned with effective use of their time. Business travelers have always questioned these very popular on demand transportation apps, when they will offer the ability to reserve? The answer is never or maybe in future with greater uncertainty that the reservation system will not be sustainable.

The real reason for these on demand transportation apps not offering such feature is because the question is that can they effectively deliver and complete 75% of reservations? The loose network of driver owned vehicles work their own schedule and these company apps have no control over when and where to work or even force dispatch rides. These apps cannot dictate dispatch the daily ride schedule for each driver owned vehicle. In addition, what good is a reservation, when the time of service there isnt a car available or one nearby area? Or what about an auto dispatch system that has no control in directing nearby cars to reservationed rides? On demand dispatch is just simply connecting a nearby car with nearby driver willing to accept. These driver owned vehicle can accept, reject the ride and or even accept the ride but then cancel ride for better job opportunity. This is why the reservation platform may not work and may not guarantee the ride. However, the problem is that the rest of world still functions on reservations and appointments.

One cannot simply show up at the airport and dictate an airline ticket at their own time schedule. Has a doctor ever said, come by when ever you feel like? Have you ever been at a restaurant and told that they have no seating? This is why all of us make reservations and business travelers also require the ability to make reservations with car services for future use. A business traveler departing at JFK International Airport at 5pm needs to reserve a car pickup for 2:30pm. While some on demand transportation apps may tell you that they are more reliable than other apps, but have they told you about their price gouging tactics? Yes, the popular term Dynamic Pricing or Surge Pricing is nothing more than Price Gouging. The truth is barely told, except the rider is always told that surge priving is required to get more cars on the road. The truth is this, we had to raise prices to get the driver owned vehicle interested in picking you up on the given time. Reservations also protect the rider in locking in the rate for service as opposed to price gouge surprise.

For all of these and many other good reasons, business travelers should use services whch can offer reservations, have insurance coverage, drug tested and background checked screened drivers, and comply with local jurisdictions.
